Calling herself a “poetic minstrel with living in her veins”, Leena writes passionately about everything that strikes her mind and heart, striving to provide meaning and entertainment, finding oodles of inspiration in travels, expansive life experiences, and generally watching life over the rim of a teacup.
Leena can often be found reading at 42 Worcester (The UK’s premier alternative-genre spoken-word event, named in homage to the great Douglas Adams), Worcester LitFest & Fringe SpeakEasy, and Dear Listener. She is also a member of the Worcester Writer’s Circle and has previously performed at the prestigious Ledbury Poetry Festival and Worcester LitFest & Fringe Slams. Leena has also collaborated with artists creating exhibitions combining poetry and art.
Selected as Worcestershire Poet Laureate 2020-21, Leena is also Poet-in Residence for The Commandery, Worcester – the UK’s first Civil War Museum
Leena’s work can be found in both print and online (see below for social media links), with recordings available on YouTube, and is available for personal commissions (a recent project has included working for schools showing how poetry and writing is a tool to manage everyday life and not just for English Literature lessons).

What People Say
Leena Batchelor’s latest collection of poems explores the underside of society, digs into dark places and teases out deep feelings. Its stated aim is to stir debate and discussion and these intriguing snippets do just that….. not the most comfortable reading but then that’s not the purpose of this fine book.
Review of ‘Under the Stones’
I have seen been addicted to her work. Beautifully descriptive, powerful and imagery so lucid you can see her stories unfold in front of your eyes like a movie.
Who will feel the rain now? is an emotive and chilling sci-fi. I’m slightly anxious that the events of this story may indeed come true…
